PharmAlliance Seminar: Ben Boyd, Ph.D. presents “Milk as Nanomedicine”

The Division of Pharmacoengineering & Molecular Pharmaceutics Presents: PharmAlliance Seminar with Ben Boyd, Ph.D.,”Milk as Nanomedicine.”

Please join us as we hear from Professor Ben Boyd, Ph.D., from Monash University on July 11 at 12:30 p.m. in Marsico Hall 4004. Pizza will be served prior to the seminar.

Ben Boyd is a colloid and physical chemist with Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne (1999). After industry experience in the explosives and pharmaceutical industries, he commenced an academic position at Monash University where his research focuses on colloidal and structural aspects of lipids, lipid self-assembly and pharmaceutical systems, focused on controlling materials at the colloidal scale for delivery in pharma and other fields. His group is also active in developing new synchrotron-based characterization approaches for lipid and solid state systems.

He is past President of the Australian Chapter of the Controlled Release Society, Past Chair of CRS Board of Scientific Advisors, and is past Secretary of CRS. He was also Past Secretary of the Colloid and Surface Science Division of the Royal Australian Chemical Society. He is currently President of the Australian Colloid and Interface Society. He serves on the editorial boards of several journals including Co-Editor of Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, Associate Editor for Drug Delivery and Translational Research.

He was the recipient of the Gattefossé-sponsored AAPS 2011 Lipid-based Drug Delivery Award Outstanding Research Award, and is currently on an Australian Research Council-funded Future Fellowship for the discovery and development of light activated drug delivery systems.
