Symposium: Journey to the Top: Women’s Paths to Success

April 7, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 12:30 pm

Women in Science (WinS) will be hosting a symposium to recognize the work and contributions of women to the advancement of science. The symposium will open with a keynote address from Dr. Kathie Olsen, Founder and Managing Director of ScienceWorks, a scientific consulting firm aiding research advancement in academic institutions, companies, and research entities. Dr. Olsen has held several leadership positions in major government and scientific agencies including Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer at the NSF, Associate Director of Science in the Office of Science and Technology Policy in the Executive Office of the President, and Chief Scientist at NASA. Dr. Olsen is an extremely distinguished scientist and leader, and she will speak about her pioneering work and journey as a female scientist in a variety of career settings. A reception and poster session will follow the talk, showcasing the work of graduate students and postdocs on campus. The session will end with closing remarks and poster awards.
