CIPhER Friday Seminar: Multiple-choice Questions: Do Yours Make the Cut

This presentation for test item authors will address how to write quality multiple-choice questions (MCQs) that assess higher order thinking (e.g., application of data, interpretation of data, decision-making). For a test item to generate a valid score it must test content that is considered to be important AND be free from technical flaws. By taking a closer look at the proper structure of MCQs and learning how to recognize the potential flaws that disrupt the overall effectiveness of items, session participants will be able to design test items that more accurately measure the intended objective, and student achievement.
