The Future of Interprofessional Education at UNC

We know we must prepare our students to practice optimally on interprofessional teams as they enter the workforce—patient safety and cost-effective care depend on it heavily.  But what more could we do across all levels of our professional program to get them ready for that environment?  This session will explore the application of the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) core competencies in pharmacy education, and describe the current status of interprofessional education and practice at the University.  The key features and growth opportunities presented through our accreditation needs for IPE will be discussed, as well as envisioning what our faculty and students can do that go above and beyond those essential ACPE standards to developing UNC into a nationally recognized authority for IPE.
