From Rick Wernoski:
Please join me in congratulating Jason Martin, M.A., who has been named the director of educational technology at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Martin joined the School as the technology operations manager in educational technology in May 2016 and has served as interim director of educational technology since November.
As director of educational technology, Martin provides creative, strategic leadership in educational technology development for the School while promoting our diverse programs. This includes the Doctor of Pharmacy VTC program and the satellite campus in Asheville. He is responsible for the delivery of educational computing services to more than 200 faculty, 100 staff and 800 students, as well as the management of all technical staff, technology resources and educational technology. His position oversees all educational systems and technology, including satellite campuses; manages all audio-video technicians, instructional technologists and student employees in the educational technology office; administers web-based education technologies including modules, web conferencing, classroom capture and digital signage; and provides strategic leadership and planning of the future of educational technology.
Before joining the School, Martin spent two and a half years at Seattle University as a media services specialist where he was responsible for classroom support and various instructional technology initiatives. Before that, he was at Aiken Technical College in South Carolina and WOUB Public Radio at Ohio University. He has more than a decade’s experience managing multimedia technology in higher education, and we are confident that he will provide strong leadership for the Office of Educational Technology in supporting the educational mission of our school. I would like to thank the search committee who participated in the selection process.
Martin is located in the Techcore (Beard 110A) and can be reached at jasonmartin@unc.edu.
